Hey Conga-ers! I've been a fan of Gloria's since I was 9 years old when in the summer of 1984 (I'm 33 now) both of my older Sisters would make me perform my own dance routine for their entertainment to "Dr. Beat" luckily without the silky red butterfly boob tube with matching leather pants which Gloria sports so well in the video.

Each time I'd perform the dance energetically and each time they would promise to take me to the disco with them..... I'm still waiting to go to that disco and more impressively, I'm still dancing to Dr. Beat. (I wonder how I'd look in that boob tube now?)

In 1989, when I saw the TV broadcast of the "Homecoming Concert" I just knew I had to see Gloria in concert myself. Two years later in '91 I saw her perform twice during the "Into the light" Tour in Dublin, Ireland and in '96 during the "Evolution" tour where I Gloria passed to me the silk piece of cloth she used while dancing to "Abriendo Puertas" and dedicated "I'm not giving you up" to me...that piece of silk cloth remains framed in my home with the imprint of Gloria's lipstick stain in the top left corner and Gloria winking to me as she gave it away embedded in my memeory. However I still have not yet had the opportunity to meet Gloria backstage and thank her for all the wonderful music she has made that at alwaya made the tougher times easier to get through and for the music that constantly makes me feel good. Hopefully during the 2008 European tour I can get to meet her afterwards in Belfast!!! Here's wishing!
