Gloria attended the University of Miami graduation ceremony on May 14, 1999 to present an honorary Doctorate of Music degree to Celia Cruz, a legendary Salsa performer. Gloria is a graduate of the University of Miami and is also a member of its Board of Trustees, therefore she was chosen to present this degree.
